A Cold Air Intake, is it Worth It?

As the price of gas goes up many people are looking for accessories or aftermarket parts to add to their cars in order to improve their gas mileage. One of the first and relatively inexpensive upgrade parts that will make an automobile hotter, figuratively, is a cool air intake. High-performance cool air intake systems help engines run on the air by trapping and filtering the air as it comes into the engine. These air intake systems provide cool air coming through the grill or front fender of the car which is a more appealing option than grabbing warm air from under the hood. This works on a simple principle: cool air is denser than hot air. This means more oxygen is supplied to the engine, which works with the fuel to give the car more power thus making the engine work less increasing your fuel consumption.

As we know most people are frustrated with the skyrocketing gasoline prices. Many people want to get the best fuel consumption rate from their vehicles and rightly so. The only way to get the best gas mileage is by pushing your car around where you want to go. This is of course is not an option. However, there are a few things that can be done to get the best fuel consumption rate out of your car such as adding a cool air intake. When it comes to increasing the mileage of your car, the basic problem you will encounter is how you maintain your car and your driving habits without a cool air intake.

You can purchase performance kits that include all the hardware you will need to install your cool air intake system . When your system has been installed you may actually hear the air as it enters the filter. Many manufacturers claim that by using a Cold air intake systems you'll actually get better gas mileage with your car.
